Misadventures & Celebration!

Day 1:
We drove miles to find my surprise
To celebrate our anniversary
It is so much fun he said
Least did he know about the upcoming adversary

He had planned it; it was a state park :|
He started to pitch the tent in the dark…
As I started whining in the silent night…
Our neighbors’ well trained dog let out a slight bark

Day 2:
We crouched up inside the tent, waiting for the rains to subside,
He hated the rains and refused to go on a bike ride
When the sky got clear, he overcame his resentment..
Lets Canoe! He screamed with some excitement

We sailed along the wind, admiring the beauty around
Paddle hitting the water was the only sound
Soaking up the sun, we sang, we laughed
Farther and farther we went, away from the ground.

We turned around to head back towards our camp,
Suddenly the wind had turned into a vamp
There was no way could we could paddle back
Our spirits were getting damp.

He said, Paddle honey, just there is the shore
Though cold winds blew, beads of sweat began to pour
With his motivational speech he began to bore
I threatened to jump off the canoe; I could take it no more

Finally we pulled over on a private jetty,
Walked on a highway wearing life jackets; we looked pretty
Six miles and Paddles in hand, we were almost dead
Phew! That was how our celebration ended.

She was just back from India with shortened hair
To take her to woods immediately it was probably not fair
I thought it would be fun, in a lovely place we did camp
Dunno how i thought of pitching tent in the dark with a dollar store lamp

She did try her best to help me out, "politely" offering to sleep in the car
But when our campfire did not even light up, i admit she did go a bit bizzare
Finally slept without half the tent cover, its supposedly nice to sleep watching the sky
Only to be woken up at 3am with cold rain hitting my face, she slept happily, why me god, why

The bright sun woke us up to the start of yet another eventful day
Hiked around, took wonderful pics till it was time to hit the hay
The optimist in me tried to light the fire again, finally gave up when my eyes went red
At 3am saw the fire suddenly burning, woke her up, "Shut up n Sleep" she said

The next day took a canoe and rowed it with the wind, we were a lovely pair
Turned back to see the park was far away, the gusty winds gave us a scare
All hell broke lose then, though tired,oh man did she throw a flare
Rowed it to the nearest bank, what to do with the canoe? she says "I dont care"

The 5 mile walk back to the park was the best part of the trip she felt
Still I was kinda scared, trying to avoid any flying missile she would pelt
We left towards home to stop at Winona, she loved the place, the sight and the fresh smell
That was an eventful trip, relieved I was, "All is well that ends well" they tell!

She was hyper, she wanted to camp
He was sober, he wanted a map
She wanted no plans, but a lot of adventure
But unknown territories , he wouldn't venture

They decided to have a day out
All through did they shout
Waited for sun, but they got rain
A day not expected, yet loads of memories to gain

Over the water, a dozen dreams they dreamt
Lost in rome and thoughts when they met
Only when the shore seemed so far and distant
Did they jump to reality at that very instant

To every photo he would pose
On not clicking her, she would give him a dose
Fun, surely they had their share
A lovely couple, always ready to dare

Your poems were an inspiration
To comment it was a motivation
Hope your anniversary binds you together
In a bond that lasts forever and ever :)
